Anaplasmosis

  • Area Affected: Internal
  • Treatment: Commercial Vaccine
  • Consequences: High Fever, Anemia, Loss of Appetite

Grub

  • Area Affected: Internal
  • Treatment: Ivomec (Ivermectin)
  • Consequences: Affect circulatory system, Affect central nervous system, Devalue hide

Horn Fly

  • Area Affected: external
  • Treatment: insecticides by spraying or dusting
  • Consequences: Devalue hide

Leptospirosis

  • Area Affected: internal
  • Treatment: vaccination should occur before breeding season
  • Consequences: high fever, poor appetite, abortion at anytime, bloody urine, anemia

Lice

  • Area Affected: external
  • Treatment: Ivomec and insecticide sprays
  • Consequences: devalue hide, premature shedding, anemia

Liver Flukes

  • Area Affected: internal
  • Treatment: Curatrem (clorsulon) and Albendazole
  • Consequences: decreased performance

Screwworm

  • Area Affected: internal
  • Treatment: Ivomec (Ivermectin)
  • Consequences: Flies deposit eggs on open wounds that hatch into maggots and feed on exposed flesh

Stomach Worms

  • Area Affected: internal
  • Treatment: Finbendazole, Levamisole, Thiabendazole, Ivermectin
  • Consequences: May cause cattle to have rough hair coat, anemia, and appear to be lethargic
